Frequently asked questions
Questions people ask before downloading, and questions people ask once they're already using PlanPot. Can't find yours? Support has a direct line to us.
Is PlanPot free to download?
Yes. PlanPot is free to download, and every essential feature, meal planning, the calendar, family sharing, and the grocery list, is free too. Nothing important is locked away. A one time Premium purchase adds extra themes, more fonts, and more recipe import credits, and recipe import comes with free credits included from the start.
Do I need to create an account?
No. PlanPot doesn't require an account or sign-in. If you want to sync across your own devices or share with family, you can turn on iCloud sync, which uses the Apple ID already on your device.
How does recipe import pricing work?
You get free credits when you install PlanPot, plus more every month up to a cap. A credit is only used when you actually save an imported recipe. Starting an import and not saving doesn't cost you anything. Need more? You can buy credit packs any time from the Premium screen.
What does PlanPot Premium include?
Premium is a one time purchase that adds extra themes, more fonts, and more recipe import credits. It's added comfort, never a requirement, since every essential feature, including family sharing, is already free.
How does Family Sharing work?
Turn on iCloud sync to share your meal plan, recipes, and grocery list with your family in real time. If you purchase Premium, every member of your iCloud Family gets it automatically, with no separate purchase per person.
Is my data private?
PlanPot doesn't collect personal information and doesn't require an account. Your recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your own iCloud account, never on our servers. See the full Privacy Policy for details, including how recipe import handles data.
What happens if I lose my data or switch phones?
PlanPot keeps automatic backups on your device, with recent saves plus weekly and monthly checkpoints. Look for the restore option in Settings: you can bring back everything exactly as it was, or restore only what's missing while keeping anything you've added since untouched. If you also enable iCloud sync, your recipes, plans, and grocery lists sync to your personal iCloud account too, so a new phone signed into the same Apple ID picks up right where you left off.
Does PlanPot work offline?
Your recipes, calendar, and grocery list live on your device, so you can view and edit your plan without an internet connection. iCloud sync and recipe import both need one to work.
What languages does PlanPot support?
PlanPot is fully translated into 13 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Greek.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes, a companion Apple Watch app and home screen widgets show what's for dinner and what's left on the grocery list at a glance.
A purchase didn't go through, or I want a refund. What do I do?
All purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store, so we can't issue refunds ourselves. Request one directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Premium or a credit pack you bought isn't showing up in the app afterward, email us at planpot.app@gmail.com and we'll help sort it out.
Family sharing or iCloud sync isn't working. What should I check?
Double-check that iCloud is turned on for PlanPot in your device's Settings, and that the family member you're sharing with has accepted the invite. If everything looks right and the calendar or grocery list still isn't updating across devices, email us with a screenshot and we'll dig in.
Recipe import didn't read a recipe correctly. What can I do?
Clear, well-lit photos work best. You always see the result before it's saved, so you can fix anything by hand right there. If a specific recipe keeps failing or importing incorrectly, send it to us, reports like this are what help us keep improving accuracy over time.
What if I have a different question or found a bug?
Email us any time at planpot.app@gmail.com with what happened and, if relevant, your device model and iOS version. We read every message and reply personally, usually within a day or two.
